Bredenoord celebrates 80 years in business with free sports club membership for kids

Bredenoord director Jaap Fluit handed Stefan Groothuis (Olypmic golden medal winner) a cheque for €20,000. Stefan is the ambassador for Jeugdsportfonds in Gelderland, the province where Bredenoord is headquartered. The presentation ceremony was held at a sports club near the Bredenoord site in Apeldoorn together with chairman Jos Pennickx of the Jeugds Sport Fonds Gelderland.

Bredenoord is an independent family business that develops, supplies, maintains and operates energy systems that provide a secure energy supply for its customers. In 2017 Bredenoord celebrated 80 years in business and wanted to do something to mark the occasion. Managing director Jaap Fluit:
“We have now been supplying energy non-stop for 80 years. We like to pass this energy on to others. Jeugdsportfonds is a youth sport fund that makes a big difference to families with young kids. It’s inspiring to see how sport has such a positive effect on children’s development. We’d like all children to be able to benefit. Our donation will allow 80 kids to enjoy sport for a year, and this gives us energy.”

Jeugdsportfonds provides sports opportunities for children aged from 4 to 18 whose families cannot afford sports club membership. It covers the membership fee and also pays for sports equipment for these children. For €250 a child can participate in a sport for a year. Jeugdsportfonds helps these children and Bredenoord wants to support this initiative.
