We look beyond current standard solutions, because reliable, local energy generation without fossil fuels requires innovative technologies and vision. ## Alternative fuels Since the launch of our first hydrogen generator in 2009, we have been continuously developing smart applications for our mobile energy solutions. Although hydrogen has great potential in the energy transition, in practice it has proven to be less suitable for mobile power solutions. That is why our focus is increasingly shifting towards other alternative fuels with broader applicability. Think of sustainable options such as methanol, biogas and various e-fuels. These fuels offer practical advantages and contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions, without compromising on reliability and mobility. We are conducting small-scale trials within our own organisation and, together with our customers, investigating what is technically possible, but above all what is practically applicable in the workplace. HVO, short for hydrotreated vegetable oils, is a synthetic diesel. This fuel is made from hydrocarbons from plant based and animal based fats. Due to the way HVO is produced all oxygen is removed in the process, unlike biofuels gained through esterification, such as FAME. The urgency of emission-free construction has increased over the past few years, in part due to the NOx-crisis in the Netherlands. Fortunately some projects provide the opportunity to develop innovative solutions that will contribute to the goal of eventually building entirely emission-free.
