torsdag 11 august 2011 09:48 Smukfest: First Danish music event to use fuel cell generator for temporary energy supply

Denmark, august 11th 2011 – Smukfest, Denmark’s second largest music festival with over 45.000 visitors, will this week (august 10th till august 14th) be supplied by sustainable energy provided by Bredenoord, a Dutch innovative company and one of the main players in the field of mobile sustainable energy supply. Bredenoord will use their fuel cell power generator Purity to provide Smukfest with sustainable energy, making this the first event in Denmark to use sustainable fuel cell technology. Last year, Bredenoord used its technology for part of the energy supply at Glastonbury Festival (UK) and Lowlands Festival (the Netherlands).

Bredenoord – sustainable solutions for events of today and tomorrow

Purity – Bredenoord’s fuel cell generator

This Purity model has a capacity 5 kVA which is more than sufficient to provide the Smukfest with energy. It has been operational at Glastonbury 2010, with the specific task of functioning as a supplement for the solar power generators. Inside the extremely silent fuel cell generator an electro-chemical reaction takes place between hydrogen and oxygen from the air. This process only releases heat, power and clean water; so no emission of soot and particulate matter! This makes the Purity an important option for a sustainable future of events such as Smukfest, Glastonbury and Lowlands. The Purity is also available with a capacity of 17,5 kVA.

Clear Air regenerating – soot filter

In addition to the Purity Bredenoord will supply Smukfest with Clear Air soot filters on the diesel generators, which provide a more sustainable solution for the entire festival. The Clear Air works on diesel and is fitted with a self cleaning soot filter that reduces 99,9% of the particle emission. (TUV Rheinland tested 2009).

Dedicated to sustainability
Bredenoord, together with partners such as Nedstack, is the first company to deploy hydrogen fuel cell technology for mobile energy generators. General manager Jaap Fluit: “This fully fitted into our vision on energy. We offer energy at every location, also in a future in which less fossil fuel shall be available and where reduction of emission is essential. With the larger Purity we demonstrate that the deployment of hydrogen in mobile generators has not been a one-hit-wonder. We also work continuously on clever solutions in the field of fuel saving and making existing equipment cleaner. We are very pleased to see that Smukfest made a conscious choice to work with Bredenoord. Both companies stress the importancy of sustainability and reduction of particle emission. Smukfest is a perfect example of an event of the future!

About Bredenoord
Bredenoord is a family corporation that has been involved in the rental, sales and production of mobile energy for over 70 years. In addition to the Purity line, the company has, amongst other innovations, developed the Clear Air, a regenerating filter that reduces soot emission by 99,9%, as well as complete biogas CHP’s (combined heat and power). Bredenoord is a full service company in the field of temporary energy supply. Bredenoord combines it’s own research and development with innovative partnerships and gives it’s clients several choices: the choice of fuel type, the choice of fuel consumption and the choice of emission. Bredenoord’s goal is to supply temporary energy wherever our customers’ needs are. Today and in the future.
