New soot filter reduces emission by 99.9%!
tirsdag 06 oktober 2009 Bredenoord presents Clear AirApeldoorn, 6 October 2009 - Bredenoord introduces a new self cleaning soot filter for generators that reduces the emission of soot till nearly 0. The company that rents and produces mobile power supply facilities has developed the soot filter on its own account for its existing diesel power generators. The new invention will be presented in the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch during Energie 2009, on 6, 7 and 8 October.
In Clear Air, a patent self cleaning soot filter, the smut is being sorted out and burnt afterwards. Testing organisation TÜV Rheinland has tested the filter and concluded that the soot emission is being reduced by 99.9%, during full as well as partial use of the generator. The emission of soot of a normal generator after having been operational for one hour is identical to the emission of soot of Clear Air after having been operational for 3 months without interruption!
Restraints on soot emission
In particular soot emission may cause problems in case of events and construction projects in town centres and tunnels. Also government regulations regarding emission during such projects are becoming increasingly severe. During the recent European Soccer Championships in Switzerland and Austria (2008), the authorities demanded a power supply with minimal soot emission from the organization. During that event Bredenoord deployed generators with so called ‘throw away’ soot filter cartridges. Also during the Liberation Festival in Zwolle this type of soot filter has been deployed.
Innovation
In the meantime Bredenoord developed a soot filter that removes as much soot as possible and that cannot be ‘full’ during deployment and therefore need not be replaced. This is in line with the long term vision on energy and sustainability. Bredenoord always strives for improvement of existing products and tangible solutions for a future without fossil energy. With Clear Air soot no longer has to be an issue for the deployment of mobile power supply on location. Also, per event the customer is free in his choice of using or not using the soot filter with an existing generator.
